Probiotics are in the news again and once again some of the information provided is not clear and therefore not very helpful as in “actionable.” If you are someone who is already consuming probiotics every day, and hopefully in the form of Essentials packets (from the New Earth company) before each meal, then you are on the right track and thank you.  (and your microbiome thanks you)

On NPR (National Public Radio) this morning, December 11, 2017 there was a five minute report on Probiotics. Based on the conclusions of this report you would have to assume that the Probiotic Industry was in it’s infancy, is totally unregulated, and the science is inconclusive as to the safety and efficacy of Probiotics. Nothing could be further from the truth.

The truth is that the Probiotics “industry” in this country started in the 1950’s with the work of Dr. Khem Shahani at the University of Nebraska. His pioneering work is now carried on by the company he founded in 1981, Nebraska Cultures.

There are thousands of research articles written on the subject of Probiotics and dozens and dozens of Probiotic Companies. People in “the know” about health and well-being take Probiotics daily. And they consume foods that are “prebiotic.” Prebiotic foods are foods that are conducive to the growth and healthy maintenance of the Probiotics!

Personally, Megan and I started taking supplemental Probiotics on a daily basis in 1990. And we will continue to take Probiotic supplements every day for the rest of our lives.

Probiotics are essential to the health of the human microbiome and the health of the human microbiome is essential to the health of the entire human body.  If your microbiome is healthy the rest of your body should be healthy. If your microbiome is unhealthy (a condition called “Intestinal Dysbiosis”) then most likely you will not be healthy…not just in your “gut” but possibly in many other areas of your body as well.

Health Scare of the Week: Mouthwash Linked to Diabetes

According to an article in The Week (December 15, 2017. Volume 17; issue 852) daily use of the most commonly used Oral Mouthwash products could increase the risk for Type 2 Diabetes. Researchers suggest that the antibacterial ingredients such as chlorhexidine and triclosan may be doing more harm than good. These ingredients destroy the harmful bacteria responsible for gum disease and cavities but they also wipe out the “friendly” bacteria (aka Probiotics). The friendly bacteria are essential in the production of nitric oxide, a compound that helps regulate insulin, which in turn keeps blood sugar levels in check.

There is a better way to reduce the harmful bacteria in your mouth while increasing the populations of beneficial bacteria in your mouth and entire GI System: Drink ASEA.

Specifically, put two ounces of ASEA Redox Cell Signaling Supplement in your mouth (at least twice daily) and hold it in your mouth for at least 30 seconds while you gently roll the ASEA around your mouth, teeth and gums. The bioactive Redox Signaling Molecules in the ASEA product have properties that promote the health of the friendly bacteria while simultaneously weakening and de-activating the unhealthy bacteria.

I know this is true first hand because I suffered periodontal disease for many years. After only six months of twice daily use of ASEA (the drink) and using this very simple “swishing protocol” for 30 seconds at least twice daily, I was not only able to put a stop to the progression of my periodontal disease but regrow healthy gum tissue. This was verified by my dental hygienist and mercury-free Dentist, Dr. John Kellogg.

Redox Signaling Molecules (NO or Nitric Oxide is one of 32 Redox Signaling Molecules so far discovered) are essential actors in the cellular structures of our body that help the body to “detect” damaged cells and to “activate” the cellular repair and regeneration processes.

Nothing is more important to our health than having healthy cells. Bioactive Redox Signaling Molecules promote the health of ALL KINDS OF CELLS in the human body; including Probiotic cells!
